IMPORTANT INFORMATION – Year 2000 Compliance.

Please ensure that all the appropriate personnel in your company receive this information.

Technical Indexes Ltd. (TI UK) has taken steps to address any potential Year 2000 problems by setting up a high level working party to conduct a millennium audit. This group have examined the implications for all our own services relating to software and hardware products (including those we re-sell from suppliers such as Microsoft, Logicraft etc.), and also our own internal systems.

We have reviewed every product and service we currently use or supply for Year 2000 compliance.

The information provided here may not be exhaustive so you are advised to check the related web pages regularly to look for further developments or changes.

Customers renting TI UK supplied hardware will be subject to separate compliance initiatives and will be personally contacted in due course.

Please note the following:

The software contained in most Technical Indexes products is used to access ‘‘read only ‘’ databases and is not date sensitive.
The Software Quality Assurance groups of Technical Indexes (TI UK), Information Handling Services (IHS)* and NBS Services** have tested and currently test all their products for Year 2000 compliance and have found no instances where Year 2000 compliance has caused a product to fail.
Any new development from ti UK or IHS requiring date calculations will be designed to handle the Year 2000 issues.

Technical Indexes is fully aware of its obligations in respect of this issue and is taking appropriate steps to ensure that, insofar as is reasonably possible:

there will be no disruption to the services provided by the Company to its customers as a result of the Year 2000 date change and,

the performance and functionality of the software products used and supplied by the Company will not be affected by dates prior to, during or after the year 2000.

For the purposes of this statement, "Year 2000 compliance" means compliance with the requirements defined in PD-2000-1 produced by the British Standards Institution Committee BDD/1/1-/3.

In particular:

Rule 1. No value for current date will cause any interruption in operation.
Rule 2. Date based functionality must behave consistently for dates prior to, during, and after year 2000.
Rule 3. In all interfaces and data storage, the century in any date must be specified either explicitly or by unambiguous algorithms or inferencing rules.
Rule 4. Year 2000 must be recognised as a leap year.
