Cookies are small pieces of information that a website puts on your hard disk so that it can remember something about you at a later time. JavaScript is a technology built in to browsers that allows us to make your Web experience more interesting. We use JavaScript to handle some of your shopping basket functions, for example.

If you are using Netscape 4.05 or above, you can turn cookies on by going to the Edit menu at the top of the browser window, and selecting Preferences. Click on ‘Advanced’ on the left hand side of the dialog box, and you should see cookie options at the bottom of the screen. Make sure that one of the options ‘Accept all cookies’ or ‘Accept only cookies that get sent back to the originating server’ is selected. Above the cookie options, there is a panel with several checkboxes, one of which reads ‘Enable Javascript’. You will also need to ensure this box is checked.

If you are using Internet Explorer 4, you can turn cookies on by going to the View menu at the top of the browser window, and selecting Internet Options. Choose ‘Advanced’ and scroll down until you can see the cookie options (under the ‘Security’ heading). Make sure this is set to ‘Always Accept Cookies’.

Internet Explorer 4 uses its ‘Security Zone’ model to set whether JavaScript is enabled or disabled. These settings are under the ‘Security’ tab of the Internet Options dialog box. You can tell which security zone a site is in by looking at the bottom right-hand corner of your Internet Explorer window. Unless our site is in the ‘Restricted Sites’ zone, you should not have any problems, but you can check the settings by selecting the Security zone that this site is in (this is shown in the bottom right hand corner of your browser. If you click the ‘Custom Level…’ button and look under the heading ‘Scripting’, subsection ‘Active Scripting’, you can make sure the ‘Enable’ option is selected.

If you are using Internet Explorer 5, you can turn cookies on by going to the Tools menu at the top of the browser window, and selecting Internet Options. Choose ‘Security’ and select the Security zone that the site is in (this is shown in the bottom right hand corner of your browser. If you click the ‘Custom Level…’ button and look under the heading ‘Cookies’, subsection ‘Allow per-session cookies’, you can make sure the ‘Enable’ option is selected. In Internet Explorer 5, JavaScript is enabled and disabled in the same way as for Internet Explorer 4 and you can check or change these settings by following the instructions in the previous paragraph.
