The system allows users to search a number of different criteria-document number, publication date, product code or any combination of the above to find information on the standards they need quickly and simply.
Kingston Upon Hull city council corporate safety advisor, Martin Benge, said: "We previously used a microfiche system but have upgraded to a Technical Indexes CD-ROM based system that we have found very efficient and easy to use.
Currently used on a stand alone PC in the corporate safety unit, our team of safety officers can now find information on the regulations they need to their jobs instantly. One popular feature is the ability to cut and paste from several regulations, as required, and then print off a hard copy ready for use. We are also investigating networking the system so that safety officers gain immediate access."
By proving Martin and the departmental safety officers with the right information at the right time, Kingston upon Hull city council make sure they keep abreast of the rapidly growing volume of regulations, ensuring they can make decisions based on current, comprehensive and accurate information.
