RIBA.ti Planning and Development Service on CD-ROM – desktop access to planning information, now with Appeals Decision texts

Following research into planners’ needs, the Planning & Development Service from RIBA Companies and Technical Indexes has been revised and expanded to include English Appeals Decision Letters from the Planning Inspectorate.

The service, with over 100,000 document pages from around 200 contributing bodies such as the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Royal Town Planning Institute and the Royal Institute of British Architects, offers a comprehensive reference source for planners, developers and other professionals who need planning information in their work.

Users of the service benefit from considerable savings in time. The facility to search across the entire database for required information assures the users that they have covered every relevant aspect; and with regular updates every four months the information referred to is current. Windows cut and paste functionality enables transfer of sections of the scanned documents to other applications, copyright permitting.

Contents include: Town and Country Planning Acts, Statutory Instruments, legislation relating to development, conservation, the environment, listed buildings and minerals. Department of the Environment, Transport and the Regions publications are also included, with Planning, Minerals, and Regional Policy Guidance Notes and circulars and other essential material offering research findings, guidance and opinions.

The CD-ROM service comprises an index CD and a series of complementary image disks. When installed, the index disk initiates a search window, offering the user a range of options from which to build a search query. Search options include: document title or number, document series, issuing organisation, subject, or keywords from an index listing. Once located, specific documents may be viewed by loading the relevant image disk. Because documents are scanned from original copies, the user can be confident that information is entirely accurate.

The introduction of the Planning and Development Service has followed from the success of the RIBA.ti Construction Information Service (CIS). Indeed, a number of customers now view these products as complementary, aiding legal compliance at all stages of a project, from conception to realisation.

All Technical Indexes Systems have the following common features:

Networking. Technical Indexes CD-ROM products are networkable and may be installed to enable access by multiple users throughout an organisation.

Compatibility. Technical Indexes CD-ROM services will run on Windows 3.1x and above or Windows ’95.

Helpline support. Technical Indexes has free telephone helpline services exclusively for customer use, offering assistance for technical queries or information searches.

Ends.
